Database Management for Risk Managers
At PIT, we combine insurance and risk management expertise
with success in database development. This enables us to
create customized, user-friendly Access database products
that meet very specific client needs.
Databases have proven invaluable to managing:
- Large property portfolios - including locations, coverages
and COPE.
- Projections/loss stratifications
- Quality control reports
- Account audits

about some of the recent Database Management
projects we have undertaken.
Risk Management Systems
- Expanded Access database that served as
the risk management department “management
system,” allowing it to track insurance
programs, policies, bonds, invoices
and contacts. Developed reports for expirations,
aging payables. Created forms for gathering
and disseminating exposure information for
liability and workers’ compensation
programs.
Risk Management Reports
- A claims database, populated by a “dump” from
the TPA for a captive workers’ compensation
program. This database produces monthly trend
reports for both management and the individual
program participants.
- Upgrading existing liability claims database
for a large utility district to report trends
by loss type, location and severity. Also
created a form within the database to report
new claims directly to the TPA. Worked with
TPA to scrub data.
- Using Quickbooks, created a claims management
system for a large university system to allocate
self-insured workers compensation claims
to the various campuses and track and record
their payments.
